Stormy Day, Skiatook Lake, Asxom Brothers & Fun (6/5/14)

Hosted Ralph, Robert and David Axsom (brothers) along with Patrick McCarty for an eventful day of fish catching fun! Things started off pretty slow for us, partly because I’d been away for the better part of two weeks and there was an approaching storm front moving in on us as we began the day! Stop #1 produced nothing for us and we moved only a sort distance away, dropped baits on down lines and produced one feisty 19 1/2″ Hybrid to start our day! The excitement was short lived though as a fast moving approaching storm darkened the skies and lightning dancing across the horizon!10371754_670874402984913_622395216759745839_n

Didn’t take long to reel in lines and head for the nearest shelter, Crystal Bay Marina and we slid into an empty stall just as the skies opened up and torrential rains were coming down! Whewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!! We waited out the storm for close to a couple of hours and as the skies started to lighten up and the rainfall subsided, out we went again in search of some rod bending Hybrids! It really didn’t help that the wind kept changing directions every little bit all day long, and believe me, we saw it come full circle and then some during the day! No little breezes either, white capping from every direction during the day!! Ah well, we still had fun!!!

After trying three different holes with nothing to show, found out there were some fish being caught down lake from us and headed that way in an attempt to get some fish coming over the side of the Predator! Took us a “tad” to hone in on the pattern, but once we did, it was game on, bent rods, fish flopping in the boat and filling to fish box! Lots of smack talk between brothers of course, but everyone got in on the action and finally fun was had by all! Cleaned a full limit for the guys and called it a day!

Thank You Ralph, David, Robert & Patrick!! Had a wonderful time with you guys and hope to see you again!!

Plenty of open dates yet in June, so pass the word, fish are biting and they sure need catching!! Come get ya some!!
