What’s one to do when your faced with a pretty day, sunny skies and no trip booked? Go fishing of course!!
Actually I’ve been waiting on such a day to do some scouting and stay current with fish movements and yesterday provided a “perfect” day to do just that. Hit the water shortly after 9:00 AM and enjoyed a relaxed day on the water and hit the ball out of the park on two of my three goals for the day!
Found loads of catchable Shad, my primary bait of choice, and found pretty decent numbers of actively feeding Blue Cats. Found feeding Blues in several areas but they were smaller than what I was looking for so of course I kept looking and trying until I found the right combinations and it was game on and fun time!
Long story short, I lost a really big fish (broke it off) because I got too impatient (lesson learned again ) but after lecturing and scolding myself for a bit, settled into a solid hour plus of fish catching fun before calling it a day and heading to the house! All in all a GREAT day on the water and every fish was returned to fight another day! Ohh, ended up running into several good friends on the water and ramp as well, so it truly was a great day!!
