While not a “STELLAR” day of fish catching and regrettably “NOT” loading the boat with hard fighting hungry Hybrids today, we did manage a nice box of fish, put a couple smiles on faces and enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day on Skiatook Lake, so it wasn’t all that bad!!
Hosted Tom Mancino, his brother in law Ralph Axsom and two friends, Gary & Ed today! Tom, Ralph & Ed have all been out with me prior to today, but today was Gary’s first trip out on a Hybrid trip and he was the rookie of the boat! Now, , , , , , , , they all had some other names for Gary (won’t mention them here LOL) but Gary rose to the occasion today and flat out put on a fish catching seminar for the others!! First fish, biggest and assuredly the most fish, and he did it all with just a quiet un-assuming manner!!
All told, only cleaned twelve (12) chunky hybrids and three Blue Cats that liked our offerings of fresh lively shad! We did have (all too many) quite a few good hard pull downs of rods, even fought several close to the boat only to come unbuttoned and are still swimming to feed another day! Guess that’s why they call it fishing and not catching (hmmmmmmmm)!!
Other folks (including other guides) on the water today were also having difficulty in “loading the boat” with fish, but most everyone we saw or talked with were catching a few. I think this little spell will turn around rather quickly and attribute the slow bite to the full moon period we are presently in! Next week I’m guessing the bite will be way way better than what we experienced today!!
Sorry, didn’t get one photo or pic today, it totally slipped all our minds!! Next trip out, photos will priority! Next week is pretty booked, but the following week is pretty much open through the week, and Saturday the 28th is my Monthly Weekend FRENZY!
