More Keystone Lake Striper & Sandbass Fun (3/24/15)

I had a really fun group of guys out Tuesday on Keystone Lake who came out to play with some real “toad” Sandbass10306069_830570573681961_5040704933116832305_n and of course some pretty decent Stripers! While we didn’t load the boat or limit out on Stripers, our biggest Striper went right at 12 pounds and we kept two of the smaller ones that managed to get gill hooked and were bleeding and likely would not have survived had we released them. We kept a dozen of the toad Sand Bass which with the two Stripers filleted out at a gallon and a half of fine eating Morones!1907476_830570583681960_6689537676936329107_n

We did cut our trip a bit short due to the weather! The winds kept increasing throughout the morning, blowing well into the upper 20 mph and into the 30’s making boat control difficult and nigh onto impossible to make accurate casts. Coupled in with the safety factor of having to traverse several miles of white capped and wind whipped water to get back to the ramp, we opted to go home safe and give it a go another day!! Everyone was happy, took home some fish and enjoyed what time we were able to spend getting their rods bent by some good fish!! I apologize for not getting some action shots/pics, but managed to snap a couple just prior to cleaning!

By now, I’m sure y’all have seen, read and heard about the weather the day following this trip! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the folks affected by the tornado’s that struck in the general vicinity of where we’d been fishing just the day before, as well as all those affected by the series of storms Wednesday!

Thanks guys, had a ball!
