What a day on Keystone Lake (YES, it was a good’un)!! We targeted Keystone Blues today and I must say we were certainly glad we did! I shared the boat with three generations of fishermen in the boat today and enjoyed every minute from start to finish with them! Jim Rankin, his son Shawn along with his 13 year old son Tom, showed up actually just looking for a nice day on the water, maybe catch a few fish and enjoy the day!! Ohhhhhh yeah, we did that and a little more I think!!

We only kept and cleaned a “Bakers Dozen” of good eater size blues which resulted in two overly stuffed gallon sized zip-lock bags, and let all the bigguns go today so they could grow up even more and maybe bend someone else’s rod(s) in the future! I’ve got to to say, I sure am proud of young Tom as he caught quite a few fish bigger than he’d ever caught before,

but when he caught the bigguns (including one over 50#’s), took their pics and he let’em go to grow!! Quite the young man he is and to be commended for his true sportsmanlike conduct and attitude!!! Young Tom officially holds the record for the biggest Hawker’s Guide Service Blue Cat boated and it tickles me to no end to have been part of his experience!!

We had a great time, and the action got fast and furious! Catching fish before I could even get the rods all baited and cast out and I truly have no idea for sure how many we actually caught total!! (I got so busy netting, baiting etc I forgot to click the counter)

Most of the Blues we were catching were in the 6-10 lb range, but we managed some over the 30” mark and only several under 6 lbs, keeping only enough for a good mess of fish which will next swim in a hot pot of oil!!
I enjoyed the day very much guys! I can honestly say I look forward to having you aboard again soon, next time for them scaly fish, which will be fun too!!
Tight Lines!
