Keystone Fishing Report (4/2/15)

Another Day (part of anyway) on Keystone! (4/2/15)

Plans “were” to host 3 gentlemen on a Blue Cat trip on Keystone today, but due to high winds, rough water and the simple fact that my clients preferred to hold out for a calmer day, plans changed!

I was already on the water early to catch bait for the catfish trip when we rearranged today’s plans so it was a simple matter of releasing a tank full of bait, grabbing some different gear out of the truck and spending a couple hours scouting for some more Striper spots!11082663_835226566549695_4848780950684450862_n

Only spent a couple of hours looking here, looking there and the fun part was actually doing some catching (and releasing) at all the spots I tried except one!

All in all a GREAT day on the water and just having fun! Could have had five more pics to go with the one posted, but they were all bout the same size and I’d much rather show clients fish, not mine!

April calendar is starting to fill in & May is right around the corner! Some of the absolute BEST fishing is right on top of us, so make plans and book soon!

Keystone Blue Cat Rod Bending Fun (4/1/15)

It’s not often I’ll book two trips in one day but I made an exception today and more than glad I did!

I’d gotten a call earlier from Derek about taking him and a couple of his buddies (Jack & Chris) on a catfish trip so they could learn how to catch catfish on Keystone. Seeing as how I was already going to be there on a 1/2 learning trip for Stripers earlier, I agreed to take them out for a 1/2 day trip! smile emoticon

Before I could even get all the rods baited and set, Derek was already battling the first of many to the boat! I can honestly say that gives a guide a good feeling deep down inside when that happens!! smile emoticon smile emoticon

Everyone in the boat caught their share of Blues and we kept enough for a big mess of fish for a fish fry for them and let a few (the bigguns) go! Cleaned enough to stuff two one gallon zip lock bags and parted company for today with three new and happy friends! ! smile emoticon

Thank you Derek, Chris & Jack! Had an absolute GREAT time with y’all & your welcome back any time!

Keystone Striper Fun Again (4/1/15)

April Fool’s Day fooling some Keystone Stripers turned into loads of fun!!

Had the pleasure of hosting Matt Brittain on a learning trip this morning and he’s a fast learner!!

Matt had inquired about a trip to learn how to find early Spring stripers on Keystone, then what to use and how, so we booked a morning trip a couldn’t have picked a more perfect day!

Right off the bat we were hooked up with some hard fighting BIG bellied Stripers with the feed bag on & an attitude!! smile emoticon

Boated 8 double digit Stripers and lost a couple more but Matt was a happy camper and excited to have made the trip today. A fun time was had by Matt the client, and all I gotta say is that I the guide had a great time putting him on some Striper Catching fun!

Thanks Matt, had a great time, looking forward to the next time!!

  • Matt Brittain Steve, I had an absolute blast! Thanks so much for the great trip. I caught some very nice stripers and had a great guide that really knows the lake and where the fish are! Can’t wait to go out with you again! Thanks for putting me on the fish and showing me how to catch them!
