Sooner 10/1/11

Got to say, Saturday started off Double Tuff both with bait catching and fishing on Sooner! It took nearly two full hours of searching, net throwing, searching net throwing and a holler from Steve Carroll (who'd found the "mother load") to get bait at Appalachia Bay on Keystone!! WOW! A BIG "THANK YOU" to Steve for sharing the mother load!!

On to Sooner to meet my clients (starting bout 1/2 hour late), loaded them into the boat and off we went in search of biting brids! We spent most of the day (starting at 10:30 AM) checking first one spot, then another, repeat, repeat, repeat, picking up one here, one there, all the time marking loads of fish in most places and just plain not in the biting mood! Finally, around 2:00 PM we pulled up to one of the well known spots and as soon as I killed the big motor to ease in on the trolling motor, the waters around us erupted in surfacing active feeding fish!! We dropped down lines, put out free lines and even tossed some prune pickers (casting & retrieving) and it was like a three ring circus will fish coming into the boat left and right! (a guides dream come true!!) Don't have any idea how many were caught and released, but kept the bleeders and deep hooked fish only and I cleaned 21 fish filling up three gallon bags with fillets for them to make a feast of later!!

Weather wise a beautiful day on the water, fishing wise, slow until the dinner bell rang and it was on like donkey kong! Meeting up with Steve Carrol and Larry Wine who were both also fishing with clients we discovered that they too had experienced a day much like ours and an ending much the same as we had! Water temps from 71.1 to 73.6, most fish caught on downlines & freelines!!

Happy Clients: (whewwwwwww)
