Hybrid Hunt on Skiatook

Had a 1/2 day trip on Skiatook Lake yesterday with J. Thomas and her two young boys, Brian age 4, and Christian age 9. Our plan was to get the boys onto some hard fighting Hybrid’s (Wipers) or White Bass but Mother Nature kind of got in the way of our plans due the the strong South winds a blowin putting whitecaps on top of whitecaps everywhere we turned.

Despite our best efforts we only had one good hit, tried several places somewhat out of the wind, but alas we were un-able to get the little ones hooked up on fish. The winds persisted in gaining velocity, so after two hours of fighting boat control, wind and waves, we opted to call the trip for the day and come back another day!! Had we been catching fish we’d likely have stayed, but it truly was getting on the edge as far as safety and having little ones on board.

Water temps were still below 50 degrees at 48 - 49 degrees, so things need to warm up a little more and weather patterns off of the roller coaster ride we’ve been on. Once the water warms up into the 50’s and weather patterns stabilize just a bit, the bite is going to get “HOT” pretty quick!

Stay tuned, as soon as the Hybrid action turns on, I’ll be posting it up both here and on my Facebook page!

Tight Lines!
