Several weeks back, I was coerced by my granddaughters to take them fishing on Good Friday so I blocked the day off just for them, and really glad that I did! We (my granddaughters & I) were joined by my Son’s Mother in Law, Roxanne Pollard of Enid, and my wife to round out the best looking boatload (myself excluded) on the water, LOL!!
Fishing has been extremely good lately over on Chouteau Bend area of the Grand River, so off we went, in search of Sandbass & Spoonbills and a boat-full of excited ladies. Our first quest of the day were Spoonbills, and despite the crowded waterway’s we managed to hook up on a few that got off, and boated only one, but it was Roxanne’s very first Spoonie ever and had a ball coaching her as she fought it to the boat. After a couple of pictures, it was released unharmed to go about it’s business of spawning for future fishing fun!
After trying unsuccessfully for another hour to get another Spoonbill to the boat, the ladies were tiring (it is work) so we opted for some more relaxed Sand Bass fishing. We did have to do quite a bit of moving around attempting to find feeding Sandies,
and while we didn’t load the boat, we did manage to find a few and no one went home disappointed in any way!
It truly was a “SPECIAL” day, and I feel like I was blessed beyond measure to have spent the day on the water with a boat-load of very special people,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, did I say VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE??!!??
Thank You Ladies, one and all, for sharing your day with me!!!
