Bent Rods at the Bend (Chouteau Bend) 3/5/13

Fun and More Fun!
Chouteau Bend 3/5/16
Had a fun fun day on the Bend snagging Spoon bill and big Gar with Doug, Megan, Dustin and Mark.8405_1007594072646276_4248703563474043990_n

Started off a little slow at first but once we dialed in on them, it got pretty steady! Biggest ran in the mid 40#+ range with a couple three in the mid to low 30# range. Tied into a couple huge Gar that we got to the boat, but we opted to not invite them into the boat and released them alongside.12801493_1007594289312921_8780933429360855113_n

Kept four Spoonies after we released five and sent the crew home with lots of meat & roe for smoking & Caviar!12803298_1007594145979602_7259554602404340022_n

Water Temps in the mid 50’s, and not a lot (if any) flow. Water wasn’t what I’d call muddy, but pretty stained and a couple feet low. I’d heard launching and loading the boat back up was a little tricky, but luckily I didn’t have any problems with either this go-round.1609911_1007594162646267_7395487281596070179_n Lots of boat traffic today and most everyone we talked to were having about the same success as we were.10400245_1007594259312924_4221056679463506438_n It’s only gonna get better over the next several weeks and looks to be a good year for snagging. On a side note, it appears I am on a pretty decent Striper bite on Keystone again, and it’s only going to get better there too. Look forward to seeing you all on the water, whether it be in my boat or another!

Tight Lines,
Steve
